During the last fashion week two particular subjects grabbed the attention amidst the fashion crowd…

The first one was an article written by Suzy Menkes. The Circus of Fashion published in the T Magazine (the New York Times Style Magazine) delved into the topic of street style — a phenomenon turned madness.

The second one was a collection created by Hedi Slimane. For 2013 the Saint Laurent look can be described with one word: „grunge“. Indisputably that is quite a surprise — the question is whether it is a good or a bad one.

I already announced at the beginning of last week that the latter would figure amidst the next posts on this blog (and it will be with a slight delay tomorrow). What makes sense, though, is to put everything in context (the context being that two topics were the talk of the town last fashion week, Hedi being „just“ one of them). So, this is a heads up: both topics are going to figure on this blog next week and I hope you are going to enjoy reading them…

Wanted

This week’s wanted list is dedicated to the upcoming holidays and more precisely to what I would consider a perfectly suited outfit…
(3) You can never go wrong with a black and white combination and the perfect base for that is a wool-twill black pencil skirt. (1) A simple white shirt would definitely be a good choice, but I found an even better option: a white peplum top. (6) To round the whole look up, I suggest these classic black pumps which are currently available at Zara. Make-up wise I would go for a dark colour for the nails and a bold red lip. (2) Butter London offers a great palette of shades, so I would probably pick a dark grey over the usual black. (5) Chanel offers in turn great options when it comes to finding the perfect red lipstick. The shade Pirate looks just about perfect in my opinion. When it comes to accessories, choose wisely. A peplum top offers enough amount of detail, so one piece of jewellery would be probably more than enough. (4) Maybe a cutout ring by Samma? (7) And since it was one of the subjects on this blog last week, I would consider this silver clutchbag by 202Factory as my evening companion (which I discovered thanks to Sabrina by the way).

(1) Topshop: Sleeveless Zip Peplum Top (2) Butter London: Chimney-sweep nail laqueur (3) J.Crew: Wool-twill Pencil Skirt (4) Samma: Cutouts Ring (5) Chanel: Chanel Rouge Allure in the colour Pirate (6) Zara: leather pumps (7) 202Factory: Simply Silver Clutchbag

Two days left until December and that means we are heading towards shorter days and freezing temperatures. I really don’t mind because that also means a lot of good stuff to look forward to: a good excuse for lighting a ridiculous amount of candles (and coming away with it), planing cosy dinners with friends at home (first point included, of course), planning my yearly Christmas visit to my family (never missed one, never will) and wearing darker lipstick (without passing for a Goth). And when I say darker lipstick, I do not mean black. That particular colour I will gladly relinquish to the runways and editorials, because frankly, no season will do the trick and make the innuendo of heavy depression disappear. When I say darker lipstick I mean darker plum or berry tones. Those look great with pretty much everything as seen above. Now, there are many options to choose from, a lot of different shades and a lot of different brands. Those four seem pretty interesting to me…

(1) Chanel Rouge Allure: Rouge Noir (2) mac: Cyber  (3) Tom Ford: Black Orchid (4) Nars Semi Matte Lipstick: Scarlet empress

(1) Rouge Noir is an iconic colour and a classic when it comes to my choice of nail polish. So it is easy to imagine this beautiful shade on the lips. (2) Cyber by mac is the lipstick worn by Columbine Smille in the picture above. It has a bluish undertone in opposition to the shade revel which I personally own, but I like this one just as much. (3) Tom Ford lipsticks are raved about (as seen chez Garance Doré) and although the pricing is extravagant, the packaging and the offered colours are brilliant. Here I would definitely suggest Black Orchid. (4) Nars in Scarlet Empress would probably would be my recommendation for beginners, just because it seems slightly less heavy than the other ones.
