glasses and something called fun

lately you can see a lot of people wearing glasses.
like a lot a lot.
(during the fashion week the amount doubled, of course,
but this goes without saying)
and not just any glasses.
big glasses.
mostly dark framed.
you almost feel a little bit naked in this intellectual looking
crowd.
but that’s the problem with trends,
which come up fast (and furious):
once, everyone is exceptionally nerdy,
the fun factor isn’t the same anymore.
I really love glasses and the first time I saw this type
of glasses I was really charmed.
and somehow, I still am.
I can’t help it.
but on the other hand, it seems even more exciting
to see someone wearing just a random pair bought five years ago.
this would be called “vintage”, I guess.

i’m good i’m gone
so, let the craziness begin!
three days of colors, shapes, people,
talking and…coffee.
I’m quite sure that those days won’t
be the shortest of the year.
I’m going to keep the blog updated,
but it wouldn’t be until next week
that a player will make listening to music
smoother around here.
since, there is a good occasion in sight:
some really nice mixtapes exclusively
made for this blog. yay!
until then, I recommend warmly
shoot your gun by 22-20′s

later or lately
lately my focus is set on
*skipping the small-talk
*walking in the rain
*fresh mint-tea
later my focus will be set on
*small-talk people into hell
*missing the rain

berlin is going to be crazy this week:
fashion week and two fairs in the exact same time.
this might explain the changes above.

the little blue something
since we brought up the classic in fashion yesterday,
how about the classic answer when it comes to the favorite color.
blue? blue!
so maybe, it didn’t happen by accident that balmain chose this
color as a highlighter in the fall 2009 collection. within all the
black and white, it is clearly a statement.
but, wait a minute, we are not looking at bright blue t-shirts here.
this is like a sequins-dream come true (if sequins could speak up
about their dreams they would spend hours on talking about this dress).
so glittery and glossy, that you want to put it on your wall.
it certainly would brighten up the ambiance.
how clever! first you look at it and you think,
“ah…blue…you can never go wrong with it”. then, you realize
how catchy and sparkling it is. maybe you have second thoughts
like “would I ever have an occasion to wear it?”. but then,
and here comes the genius part, your focus comes back to the
color and it is clear that “it is just perfect. it is blue, isn’t it?”
it is like someone asked you if you like croissants.
you agree. and then they show up with pains au chocolat.

the little black dress
the little black dress is one of the things related to fashion you never get tired of.
it is not a classic, it is the classic. and I’m sure that there is a blog exclusively dedicated
to it somewhere out there (there is one dedicated to smoking, for example, so you get my point).
today, I’m willing to spare you my personal dissertation on this subject, I’m just going to
admit that the first time I saw breakfast at tiffany’s, I was quite disappointed. I do like
audrey hepburn, but somehow I liked the book a big deal more as truman capote and
his works stepped into my life. but maybe the movie deserves another try?

all that glitter
bat for lashes – two suns
an album that you should not miss.
the videos daniel and what’s a girl to do are quite exceptional.
in a good way.
last weekend the word decadency came up more than once.
my friends and I had some very good ideas.
I think, that an evening with a mask as a must-have should
also figuring on the list.

when it comes to fashion I have to think immediately of the balmain fall 2009 collection.
the peaked-shoulder jackets are still very nice.
apparently I have to start thinking in other dimensions.
bret easton ellis – lunar park
what can I say? it is a big mess of glitter and other things very close to
absolute madness.

I’ve been there
look at you christopher bailey ! standing there, at the window of this gorgeous designed apartment. being all (mister) dreamy and (mister) relaxed. having this “I-look-straight-in-the-future” look on your face. probably you were thinking about fall. and yet the summer hadn’t even started yet. it must be hard thinking about the coldest wind imaginable and golden colored leaves flying around when you secretly long for a couple of sunny days, chilled wine, a good book and a hammock. but then, when I saw your fall collection 2009, I knew that this dilemma had brought up some quite good ideas. great ideas. the winter is going to be all about light and tender dresses combined with sublime coats and heavy shoes? I’ve been there. I’ve done that. but I would love to do it again.
check!

check is great. or can be great. I agree completely with you that nobody wants to put on a short red check skirt and look like a school girl who just missed the bus (yes britney, I know that this was a perfect way to pull up a career, but you know that these things just work once or how could I put it differently? the bus already took off about ten years ago). but a nice check shirt is just another thing. it can be sweet and it can be cool. and it can be fun. like the other weekend when a dear friend of mine greeted me with the words “hey, woodchopper-girl!”. fun? I told you so!

let’s get lost
yesterday the weather wasn’t very kind in the first place, but in the evening everything changed. the best thing to do? getting lost. apparently I did it very well because I completely forgot to show you this nice little collection of pictures. normally the comparison flower/ dress has a great potential to turn corny. but this one doesn’t even come close to corny. this is why I like it so much. exceptions are so good.

something yellow, something blue
I’m absolutely amazed by this two strong colors. it seems that they grow even stronger ones they are mixed together. the next time that I’m not sure which color to pick for an illustration, this could be a nice idea. but hey, I wouldn’t deny one of the dresses neither. would you?

we love jeans
there is almost nothing as good as a nice fitting pair of jeans. apparently even stella thinks so. I mean, there is no way she would climb on furniture as relaxed as she does wearing an evening gown. okay, maybe she would. but maybe she wouldn’t look so comfortable. anyway, jeans are great. even if you wearing just a white shirt with it. especially when you wear just a white shirt with it. sometimes life can be so simple.

spring it up!
some nice looks by house of dagmar.
the first picture is my favourite one mostly because all the soft shades play very well together.
how about green?

yesterday these stunning lanvin shoes crossed my way. there is a structure-bubble thing going on which is incredible. and which will be incredibly fun to paint. fun and time-consuming. time-consuming and making you hope that it will soon be done. and speaking of hope: the color of the day is green. perfect.
