About time that a new post appears on this blog, my dear readers. The last two weeks have showcased a clear trend towards „more tasks than time“ at work and what was left was spent on a rather exciting project: a journey. The moment you are using the word „project“ in this context should be forewarning enough that you need some time off, right? So this is what I am going to do: I will trade the grey sky for a bright and blue one, the stormy wind for some calming waves and these strong coffee shots (which kept me going) for some long missed sleep. Once I have shed the tiredness and feel like my normal self again, I will return to this place of ours. With a fresh mind. Full of ideas. And some true inspiration. Because this space deserves nothing less.

These are the last days of summer and in the end one cannot help but surrender to doing all the things one more time before autumn is here for good. Spending the whole day outside armed with books and magazines. Wearing sunglasses and sandals. Having an evening stroll by the river and enjoying drinks with friends. So yes, this is some kind of farewell to summer. A bittersweet one.

Two months ago I composed a little list of coveted coats. All of them could be filed under „classic“. None of them were anywhere near of a print and did certainly not include any embroidery. Trust Stella McCartney to bring up a change of heart.

Definitely Golden on InstagramDefinitely Golden on Instagram
Last Friday I walked into a new coffee shop on a whim before heading for work. After taking a look at the beautiful interior and taking a sip of the delicious flat white (typical IG shot included), I was sold.

One thing I really love about Instagram is that you are able to see so much more than you would be able to on a regular day. You can take little visual trip to a city or visit the countryside, you can oversee the skyline at night or watch the waves crash during a sunny day, you can get to know someone’s favourite coffeeshop or take a walk in the woods. Seeing all those different kind of things is first of all a lovely pastime and more often than not, it feels like taking a little break. It also is a good mean to discover new places, meals…well, things in general. And maybe we should go even further than that: it is nourishing our minds.

When I came back from a holiday in September, I left the most beautiful place behind me. A place where the sky was so blue, that it almost seemed unreal. Coming back to a city which was basically grey and to the prospect of chilly temperatures, was not particularly enticing. Luckily there were a few sunny days left and we still managed to sit outside, to take long strolls and enjoy the golden hues of autumn. That helped a lot, for sure. Surprisingly taking a look at some IG feeds turned out to be a good cure as well. Looking at the place you seem to know oh so well through the eyes of others means rediscovering details you missed and with that, its beauty.

Do you happen to know this feeling that somehow, miraculously, time is stolen away from you? Sometimes it is hard to pinpoint the reason. Sometimes it’s not. Sometimes Instagram happens.
There are many, many options to spend time on your phone. Sure, you can make a call, text friends or even have a little chat and check your emails from time to time (or any other second). But more often than not, we are occupied with something other altogether. That something other could be Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Chose your weapon or in that case, your stream. Lately, I pick the latter.

A lot has been said about Instagram, experts and not-so-much experts tuning in and out of a conversation which seems to be endless and many times rather fruitless. In print, online and offline. I don’t know about you, but I just can’t take another one personal opinion on Instagram’s actual worth. But, time and again, someone says something sensible and catches one’s attention. For me, that mostly happens when people are talking about their way and why of using it. I enjoy this part just as much I enjoy reading about a blogger’s relationship to his blog or a writer’s way of dealing with the process of writing. I do think that it is all about our way to approach things, because that part is so crucial to the outcome, whatever the outcome might be.
